Following the success of Tommy Gun, a frenzied collaborative single with Tisoki, Miami-born producer and DJ Benda makes a mark with his new multifaceted project “Broward Bezel EP.” Out now on Excision’s growing Subsidia imprint, this combustive 5 track release is the second EP to be announced from the young producer. Loaded with an array of tectonic sounds and incendiary lines, “Broward Bezel EP” is a striking feat brimming with tunes holding potential to provoke any crowd. 

Transforming tuneful beats into stifling drops that spew machine-gun style synth work, “Broward Bezel EP” showcases a manifold of Bendas forceful muse. Uniting earth-splitting bass and aggressive rap bars with the efforts of Bluepill, Puku, and Mikey Rotten, Benda hones in on the idiosyncratic style that separates him from the masses. Wrapping up the EP is the calm at the end of the storm, a melodic funk-filled piece interlaced with captivating drums and Courtney Drummey’s dreamy cadence. Checking every box, this profound collection of songs paints the perfect picture as to why the LA-based producer is known as one of the grimiest in the game.    

This project made me want to showcase my true interests, background, and my sound. Bringing Blupill and Puku on board as artists for this EP helped me truly cultivate the South Florida vibe and sound I have worked hard for. Young electronic producer prodigy k?d makes his return to the scene with a remix of Hikaru Utada’s “One Last Kiss,” the main theme song of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time — the fourth and final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. On the track, k?d says:

“as you guys know i’m a huge evangelion fan so i couldn’t resist remixing it. also this artwork took me forever to draw!!! it’s been a while since i posted a kid track, enjoy!!!!”

k?d has been teasing new music all year after his last release with Steve Aoki in January.

LISTEN: Louis Futon Drops Sophomore Album, “Couchsurfing”, To Close Out 2021

Louis Futon‘s sophomore album, Couchsurfing, is finally live on DSPs everywhere; after spending the latter half of 2021 rolling out this body of work we can finally dive deeper into his buttery smooth signature electronic production. This album blends together hip-hop, funk, and soul while also allowing his experimental nature to shine through. The story behind Couchsurfing is extremely personal to Louis; when he arrived in LA he had nowhere to live except on his friends’ couches, although no matter what couch he was on he always felt at home. Throughout this experience he was able to draw inspiration from every couch he slept on. A personal favorite is the track ‘Ron Burgundy’ which includes an infectious drum rhythm plus an instrumental flute line that hits you with funky feels and grooves. Couchsurfing is his most ambitious project yet and it sure pays off. A project that is colorful and free flowing, this album embeds diverse instruments and a playful attitude. Check out the album below and get funky!
